In Memory of Richard Herman: Richard spent his life encouraging people to test their limits, trust their ideas and make what he liked to call “good trouble.” As the founder of Interlocken International Camp, he created a community where children and young adults from different countries, cultures, religions and backgrounds could learn, adventure and grow together. In the early 1960s, Richard and the Interlocken community helped bring three boys from Meridian, Mississippi, to camp during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. That act of solidarity grew into the Educational Opportunities Fund, which continues today to provide low-income young people with access to transformative summer experiences. A donation in Richard’s memory helps carry forward something at the heart of his life’s work: the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to discover what might be possible.

General Contribution:  You can make a General Contribution to the Educational Opportunities Fund and we will combine your contribution with funds from the endowment to help support a child’s summer camp experience.

Sponsor a Camper:  You may identify a deserving student and help the EOF fund their summer camp experience.  A Sponsor provides 50% of the camp tuition.

Susan Herman Leadership Scholarship: Susan Herman was a fabulous teacher of leadership and in her honor this scholarship provides tuition for a student to attend a summer camp where they will have the chance to hone their leadership skills.

Robbie Seidman Scholarship:  Robbie Seidman was a wonderful musician and camp was one of his favorite places to learn and play music.  In honor of Robbie this scholarship provides tuition for a musically inclined child to attend a summer camp.
